Geraldine O'Sullivan - Fine Art Paintings from West Cork

INTRODUCTION

Geraldine O'Sullivan, a native of West Cork, graduated from the National College of Art and Design with a First Class Honours Diploma in 1981. She now lives and paints from her studio in Ballylibert, Castlefreke, West Cork.

Geraldine is an artist whose work is continually evolving. Her techniques include mixing acrylic and pastel, scratching and layering paint, all in the search to create distinct images.

Geraldine tries to capture in her paintings a sense of place that is unique to West Cork. In her work we find the many greens of the land, the ochre and red of the earth, the deep colours of storming seas, the blue black of the bog pools, full of emotion and memory. Her familiarity with each location instils one with a “Sense of Place and Belonging”. To reinforce this emotion, Geraldine has created a unique companion piece of art-work, for many of her larger pieces, which she calls her “Memory Box”.
